Discover the best of Poland on this 10 day, 9 night trip that will tke you from the Baltic Sea town of Gdansk, to the Polish capital of Warsaw, and finally to the royal city, and former capital, Krakow.

Itinerary

NOTE - This trip is inclusive as far as what is listed on the day to day including all transportation from the start to end of tour (Gdansk-Warsaw-Krakow) and all listed tours, guides, any museum entrances and any included & listed meals.  You are only responsible for your own personal expenses and any add on nights before or after the trip (in Gdansk or Krakow).

Day 1 - Friday

Arrival to Gdansk and check in to hotel. Welcome dinner featuring Polish cuisine.  Free evening following included dinner (optional stroll through Gdansk old town and stop for traditional cherry liquor or vodka for those that want to join).

*Gdansk airport is about 20 min by car (Uber or Bolt is best) to the city center. Price approx. €10.

Day 2 - Saturday

Morning walking tour of historic Gdansk old town to learn about its medieval history, the lead-up to WWII, decades of communism and finally the Solidarity movement led by future president Lech Walesa in the shipyards of Gdansk.  We'll take a boat to Westerplatte where the first shots were fired by the Nazis in 1939 leading to the start of WWII (tour duration approx. 5-6 hours).  Free evening. 

Day 3 - Sunday

Morning visit to Gdansk WWII museum (tour duration approx. 2-3 hours).  Free afternoon with optional visit to the Baltic sea beach resort of Sopot.  Free evening.

Day 4 - Monday

Morning departure to Warsaw by private bus with a stop at Malbork Castle. Covering area of over 52 acres, and considered the world's largest castle, this UNESCO world heritage site dates back to the 13th century and was built by the Teutonic Knights.  After an approx. 2-2.5 hour guided visit we'll then continue to Poland's capital Warsaw with late afternoon arrival.

After arrival and check in to Warsaw hotel there will be several hours to rest and freshen up before heading to Warsaw's royal castle in old town for a 1 hour Chopin concert performed by a live pianist.  Free evening.

Day 5 -Tuesday

Morning departure on a communist era "Ogorek" bus (translation = pickle or cucumber as these buses look exactly like that!) for a quirky tour of Warsaw's communist era sights & oddities (tour duration approx. 3-3.5 hours).  At the end we'll stop for classic Polish vodka tasting.  Free afternoon & evening.

Day 6 - Wednesday

Morning tour of Warsaw's old town to learn about the centuries of history, its destruction during WWII and its rebirth (tour duration approx. 3 hours).  Free afternoon & evening.

Optional activities in Warsaw: Uprising Museum; Polin Museum of the history of Polish Jews; Museum of Chopin; Palace of Culture & Science (Stalin's "gift" to the city), etc..

Day 7 - Thursday

Morning departure by private bus to head to Krakow (trip duration approx. 4 hours).  After arrival to hotel we'll meet our guide for a walking tour of Krakow's historic old town, and following a brief break, the tour continues to Kazimierz, Krakow's Jewish Quarter (tour duration approx. 4.5-5 hours for both old town & Jewish quarter).  Free evening.

Day 8 - Friday

Morning departure by bus to the former concentration camps of Auschwitz & Birkenau and comprehensive guided tour (including viewing of film at Auschwitz). Following this tour and visit, we'll then head to the Wieliczka Salt Mines to head more than 1000ft underground to see the history of these mines and their "white gold" (tour duration approx. 10 hours covering both Auschwitz & Salt Mine). Early evening return to Krakow and free evening.

Day 9 - Saturday

Free day & evening with nothing planned so you can enjoy the final day in Krakow (and Poland).

Optional activities in Krakow: Wawel Royal Castle tour; Oscar Schindler's Factory Tour, Day tour of Zakopane & Tatra Mountains, etc.

Day 10 - Sunday

Check out and say "do widzenia" (goodbye) to Poland!
